  2. for mainframe products like STAIRS.  Runs under both DOS and
  3. Windows.

  5. Many business uses.  In addition to the obvious uses for
  6. statutes, legal transcripts, etc., Racontex is valuable for use
  7. with collective agreements, policy manuals, office handbooks,
  8. library catalogues -- in fact anywhere that someone has to "look
  9. something up" and there is a personal computer available.  Ideal
  10. for on-line manuals for software!

  12. Proximity Search.  Supports searches of word alternatives and
  13. combinations of alternatives within a given number of words of
  14. each other, or on the same page as each other.

  16. Variable Stopword List.  Licensees of the loading (indexing)
  17. program may specify their own list of stopwords (words not to be
  18. included in searches, such as "and" and "the") - this is a
  19. tremendous disk space saver.

  21. Variable Delimiter List.  Licensees of the loading (indexing)
  22. program may specify their own list of delimiters.  e.g. They may
  23. determine whether a hyphenated word is one word or two for search
  24. purposes.

  26. Optional copy prevention.  The resulting self searching documents
  27. may be loaded onto computers other than the original (subject to
  28. the appropriate licence) and then made "non-portable" to prevent
  29. unauthorized copying.  Useful for significant databases in
  30. companies with high staff turnover.
